World number 35 Jiri Lehecka came into the Winston-Salem Open as a dark horse for the title after such an impressive season on the faster surfaces but he survived an early scare on Tuesday, coming back from a set down to beat Mitchell Krueger. The 21-year-old should be better for it in this round of 16 clash but world number 78 Dominik Koepfer recently burst back into form after a woeful past 12 months. The powerful left-hander took Alex de Minaur to three sets before defeat in the semi-finals of the Los Cabos Open last time out and he has looked solid enough so far in Winston-Salem, surviving an early scare of his own before a consummate win on Tuesday. Lehecka reached the quarter-finals of the Australian Open back in January and his level at Wimbledon suggests he could be in for another hefty major campaign at the incoming US Open.
