JIRI LEHECKA VS DANIIL MEDVEDEV PREDICTION

Jiri Lehecka was delighted to be back on court after over three months out with a stress fracture in his back and the Czech star said he was completely pain-free in his win over Mariano Navone.

That was the perfect match for Lehecka to come back to and he duly outclassed his Argentine opponent in promising fashion.

He now faces Daniil Medvedev and that will certainly be an upgraded test of his fitness. The pair have met twice before, with both players winning a match apiece, but both came with the other retiring through injury.

Medvedev will be fired up to do well this week. He spoke before Montreal about how much he loves this part of the Tour in North America only to be beaten in his opening match by Spaniard Alejandro Davidovich Fokina in three sets.

He lost the opening set but fought back to win the second 6-1. At that stage, it seemed a formality that he would go on and win having hit his stride, but his levels dropped again and the Spaniard won the final set 6-2.

Medvedev’s serve was particularly disappointing in that match and Davidovich found it relatively easy to create break opportunities. The Russian will have to improve in that area if he is to bounce back.

This is a really tough match to call and one we suggest staying clear of in terms of picking a winner given there are so many unknowns with this duo. Medvedev should be really up for this one but it is hard to have much confidence in somebody who is clearly lacking confidence themselves. Set or game betting is the way forward in this one and expect it to go to three sets.
