Former world number 13 Jennifer Brady finished runner-up to Naomi Osaka at the Australian Open in 2021 before suffering a serious injury later that year that she has only recently returned from. The 28-year-old has thoroughly impressed since her return, particularly in Montreal where she stunned Jelena Ostapenko in three sets before falling in as close a result to Elena Rybakina, but she has yet to take back-to-back victories. World number 24 Linette changed the course of her career with an incredible shock run to the semi-finals of the Australian Open in January but the Pole has struggled to match that intensity for most of the season. A consummate victory over Aliaksandra Sasnovich on Monday suggests this match could be a real dogfight on Wednesday but Brady will receive a huge partisan atmosphere here as a former US Open semi-finalist and home underdog all rolled into one.
