THE PREDICTION

Jennifer Brady set a career-high WTA world ranking of 13th in 2021 after finishing runner-up to Naomi Osaka at the Australian Open but the 28-year-old has spent almost two whole years off the tour after suffering a serious foot injury at the Cincinnati Masters later that year. Brady conceded just three games to Anhelina Kalinina in her first match back on tour since then, although she played a few matches on an ITF event in Canada last month, to look set for a fascinating few months but this looks too tough of a draw at this moment in time. World number 16 Madison Keys reached the quarter-finals at Wimbledon last month on a nine-match winning streak after lifting her seventh WTA title at the Eastbourne International and she got off to a flier in Washington, beating recent Palermo champion Qinwen Zheng in straight sets. Brady beat Keys in three sets in their only previous encounter back in 2019 but Keys should have too much for her compatriot this time around. Back Keys to win outright inside an accumulator or in straight sets on its own.
