THE PREDICTION

World number 12 Jelena Ostapenko came back from a set down to beat Clara Tauson on Thursday, avenging a defeat to the youngster in the Luxembourg final three years ago. 26-year-old Ostapenko has started 2024 in fierce form, winning the Adelaide International three weeks ago and reaching two further finals in doubles, with only Victoria Azarenka able to beat her this year, albeit twice, in Brisbane and at the Australian Open. 24-year-old Jodie Burrage is through to her first WTA 500 final here in Linz after coming through qualifying to beat Varvara Gracheva and Jaqueline Cristian in impressive straight sets apiece. This first meeting with Ostapenko’s raw power should be too steep of a climb but the Latvian rarely gets the job done without a sticky patch, making backing Ostapenko to win outright the sensible call but a one-off on Burrage to snatch a set a tempting option.

TIP: JELENA OSTAPENKO TO WIN
