THE PREDICTION

World number 20 Jelena Ostapenko put in a huge shift to stun Barbora Krejcikova in straight sets on Saturday, handing the fellow former Roland-Garros champion a second-set bagel. The 25-year-old now has back-to-back wins for the first time on clay this season and she should be considered more of a threat moving forwards after pushing through to the part of a tournament where she begins to lock-in better. World number nine Daria Kasatkina is a tough draw in these conditions, though, after her excellent rum to the semi-finals both here and in Paris last summer proved her credentials on clay. The Russian, also 25, needed three sets to oust Julia Grabher on Saturday to look a little off the pace and her form has been a little concerning overall this year in its wildly erratic nature. Ostapenko leads Kasatkina 3-1 at tour-level in their head-to-head but the Russian won their only clay-court encounter so far to lift the 2017 Charleston Open trophy. Back Ostapenko to earn at least a set and leave the victor up to chance.
