World number 44 J.J. Wolf brings a three-match losing streak into this tough opener against Zhizhen Zhang. The 24-year-old found the form of his career late last season to reach a maiden ATP tour final in Florence and he started 2023 in much the same vein with a huge run to the round of 16 at the Australian Open that promised more than has been delivered since. World number 67 Zhang has struggled in recent weeks since moving across from the clay, on which he found the form of his career this summer with huge runs to the quarter-finals of the Madrid Masters and semi-finals at the Hamburg 500 last month. A first meeting between the two looks like seeing sets go both ways and this match is a reasonable candidate for a one off on five but otherwise back Wolf to earn at least a set as the slightest of favourites on home soil.
