The 32-year-old is the more natural clay-courter of the two here and after a reasonably slow start to her 2023 it took Jessica Pegula to oust her in three sets from Charleston last time out. Rogers beat Begu to reach the quarter-finals of Roland-Garros back in 2016 and the American leads their head-to-head 2-1 after Begu got her first on the board in three sets in Adelaide in January. Rogers has earned at least a set in all three of their meetings, though, so take that option here to leave the victor up to chance.
