THE PREDICTION

World number one Iga Swiatek has set out her stall as a clear title contender at Wimbledon after two blistering performances on her weakest surface, conceding just six games so far at SW19. The 22-year-old claimed her third Roland-Garros title, and fourth overall, last month to maintain her stay at the top of the rankings and she can stay there if she significantly out-performs world number two Aryna Sabalenka this fortnight. World number 29 Petra Martic has battled past two talented youngsters, Linda Fruhvirtova and Diane Parry, in three sets so far to earn her place on Centre Court but the Croat’s game is likely to be about as effective as Sara Sorribes Tormo’s was against this version of Swiatek. Martic lost 6-0 6-3 to the Pole at the Madrid Masters in May to trail 2-0 in a very one-sided head-to-head that says Swiatek should have little trouble coming through in straight sets.
