THE PREDICTION

This could be a thrilling clash on Saturday between world number one Iga Swiatek and number four Elena Rybakina, who leads the Pole 3-2 in their storied head-to-head. 22-year-old Swiatek saw off a fierce challenge by a resurgent Emma Raducanu in straight sets on Friday to maintain her double title defence here in Stuttgart and she looks the solid favourite to lift a third trophy in a row here, as she did in Qatar in February, after second seed Aryna Sabalenka crashed out of the draw. 24-year-old Rybakina continues to labour to wins on tour, seeing off Jasmine Paolini in three sets after edging past Veronika Kudermetova on Thursday, but she should be able to find that extra gear here against a serious tour rival. The Kazakh beat Swiatek, via a late injury, en-route to the Rome Masters title last May but Swiatek claimed their most recent meeting to lift her third on the spin in Doha. Back the Pole to win outright, although she is certainly capable of blasting through in two.

TIP: IGA SWIATEK TO WIN
