Heather Watson and Yanina Wickmayer are through to the semi-finals of the Women’s Doubles this week in Warsaw but they will be pit against each other first in this intriguing quarter-final on Friday. World number 146 Watson recently reached the semi-finals of the Nottingham Open to look like finding a bit of form on tour and she upset third seed Katerina Siniakova in the first round of the Poland Open this week to improve on that. A three-set result over Russian qualifier Yuliya Hatouka says the Brit is ready for a fight but this will be a totally different test against a player she has fought alongside all week. World number 109 Wickmayer is yet to drop a set this week after solid results over Nao Hibino and Tereza Martincova but the Belgian is probably just-about the underdog based on recent form. Watson is at her best on a hardcourt and that result over Siniakova is the best of the pair’s respective results. Take Watson to earn at least a set as the likelier of two capable victors.
