THE PREDICTION

World number 30 Felix Auger-Aliassime overcame in-form Arthur Cazaux in three tight sets on Thursday for his most convincing win of a so far unconvincing 2024. The 23-year-old set a career-high ATP world ranking of eighth this time last season after winning four titles the year before but 2023 was one to forget, with both physical and confidence issues on and off the court, to make this season something of a major rebuild. 21-year-old Harold Mayot is the next up-and-coming Frenchman up to try and knock Auger-Aliassime out of the running. Mayot will set a new career-high ATP world ranking of 132nd after a consummate victory over Benoit Paire backed up a straight-sets result over Lucas Pouille but this should be a significantly tougher test. Auger-Aliassime is still a hard man to back with confidence after acquiring so much baggage last season but beating Cazaux suggests he can find a way through here.

TIP: FELIX AUGER-ALIASSIME TO WIN
