THE PREDICTION

24-year-old Daniel Altmaier moved 27 places up the ATP world rankings to world number 65 after a remarkable run to the quarter-finals of the Madrid Open. The German lost to Jurij Rodionov in qualifying but took his second chance as a lucky loser with both hands to blast through to the last eight before losing in two to Borna Coric and he qualified well this week to make the main draw properly in Rome. World number 120 Giulio Zeppieri received a wildcard to the main draw of the Italian Open after a good showing at the Cagliari Challenger last week. The 21-year-old is yet to win a tour-level match this season but he would have fancied his chances against Altmaier before the German burst into form in Madrid. Back Altmaier to maintain his momentum with an outright win with three sets about as likely as two.
