THE PREDICTION

24-year-old Francisco Cerundolo set a new career-high ATP world ranking of 19th last week after his excellent run to the round of 16 at Roland-Garros earlier this month and the Argentine impressed in his first grass tournament of the swing at Queen’s, beating Tommy Paul in three sets. Cerundolo put in an excellent performance against Rafael Nadal at Wimbledon last summer in a four-set defeat that suggested he had the game for the surface and it will be fascinating to see hoe he fares in Eastbourne as the fourth seed here. World number 83 Marc-Andrea Huesler grabbed a solid result on grass with a straight-sets win over Ryan Peniston on Monday but this looks a significantly tougher challenge. Cerundolo beat the Swiss in three sets on Huesler’s favoured hardcourt late last season and he is much improved in this second encounter. Back the Argentine to win in straight sets.
