THE PREDICTION

25-year-old Frances Tiafoe broke into the top 10 on tour for the first time after lifting his third ATP title at the Stuttgart Open on Sunday, giving him one title on each surface after a win on clay in Houston back in April. The American made it five wins on the spin with a comprehensive result against Botic van de Zandschulp on Tuesday and his love for the conditions on grass should further warm him to the Queen’s crowd on Centre Court today. World number 32 Sebastian Korda beat an out-of-sorts Dan Evans in straight sets on Monday to continue his recovery on tour from a long absence this season due to a wrist injury. The 22-year-old reached the round of 16 at Wimbledon in 2021 to prove his credentials on grass but Tiafoe did the same last summer and the elder American leads their head-to-head 3-1 to look the reasonable favourite here. This should be a thrilling end to Wednesday’s play and three sets look likely as three of their four previous matches have gone the distance. Back Tiafoe to win at least a set, as he has in all four of their matches, or take him to win outright for a reasonable risk.
