World number 74 Filip Krajinovic is at his best on clay but the 31-year-old has so far endured a truly woeful season, bringing a seven-match losing streak and a 3-9 record into Rome. The Serb reached the semi-finals of a Challenger event in Prague last week to build some confidence but he only recently lost to next opponent Marton Fucsovics in qualifying in Madrid to suggest this is the Hungarian’s to lose. World number 92 Fucsovics can be far better than his current deflated ranking suggests but 2022 was a season to forget, much like Krajinovic’s 2023 so far. Fucsovics has taken both Taylor Fritz and Botic van de Zandschulp to three sets before defeats on clay in recent weeks but neither player really brings any notable form on the surface to this third meeting and a win apiece in their head-to-head suggests three sets is likely. Krajinovic has won at least a set in both of their previous meetings and three wins in Prague may be the catalyst he needs for change. Take the Serb to earn at least a set here but leave this one well away from an accumulator.
