20-year-old Pablo Llamas Ruiz will set a new career-high ATP world ranking of 220th after claiming the first tour-level win of his career, on his debut, in three sets over Max Purcell on Tuesday. The Spaniard qualified well this weekend to make his ATP tour debut at the Lyon Open off the back of recent strong work on the Challenger circuit and this is no doubt the biggest day of his career so far against top seed Felix Auger-Aliassime. World number 10 Auger-Aliassime claimed his first four ATP titles on indoor hardcourts last season but so far this year he has struggled to find any sort of rhythm, particularly on his weakest surface. The Canadian brings a three-match losing streak into the round of 16 after back-to-back early exits in Madrid and Rome but despite the slightest scent of an upset here he should ultimately have too much power for Llamas Ruiz. It is hard to confidently back the 22-year-old to win in straight sets here, though, and that makes a one-off on the young Spaniard to snatch at least a set seem a tempting risk as he enjoys the occasion without any baggage.
