THE PREDICTION

World number 27 Alexander Bublik came back from a set down to beat Alexander Shevchenko on Friday, doing so for the second time this week after a brutal fight back against Denis Shapovalov. The Kazakh won his maiden ATP title here two years ago but he eclipsed that feat with a remarkable stint on grass last summer, beating the likes of Jannik Sinner and Alexander Zverev to the Halle 500 title before a huge run to the round of 16 at Wimbledon. World number 30 Felix Auger-Aliassime also won his maiden ATP title around this time two years ago, in Rotterdam, after losing each of his first eight finals on tour. The 23-year-old went on to win four title sin 2022 but he endured a woeful 2023, only just saving it from total wipe-out when he defended his Swiss Indoors title in October.

Auger-Aliassime should be able to move back inside the top 10 sooner rather than later but this will be a much tougher test than his straight-sets victory over Harold Mayot on Friday. The Canadian beat Bublik in Basel en-route to his title in 2022 to lead their head-to-head 2-1 but Bublik has since improved in these conditions to pose a real threat. Back the Kazakh to earn at least a set to leave the victor up to chance.

TIP: ALEXANDER BUBLIK TO WIN A SET
