Defending champion Francisco Cerundolo conceded just five games to Luca Van Assche on Wednesday to get a strong foothold in at the Bastad Open. The 24-year-old only recently won his second ATP title at the Eastbourne International to break the top 20 on tour for the first time, backed-up by an excellent run to the round of 16 at Roland-Garros to prove his credentials across surfaces. World number 113 Federico Coria is certainly more of an out-and-out clay specialist who has quietly produced an excellent run this week so far. The 31-year-old avenged a defeat to Sebastian Baez in the Cordoba Open final with a three-set victory in the first round on Tuesday and then avoided a potential banana skin with a straight-sets victory over home hopeful Leo Borg. Coria beat Cerundolo via a retirement en-route to the Cordoba final earlier this year to take a 3-1 lead in their head-to-head record but the elder Argentine should struggle against this all-improved version.
