25-year-old Jil Teichmann has dropped way back to world number 75 in the WTA world rankings after losing the last big chunk of her points from last spring’s successful clay swing. The Swiss is well capable of winning a title like the Strasbourg Open but she has been far from her best across all surfaces, perhaps especially her favoured clay, for the best part of 12 months now. A comeback victory over Maryna Zanesvka on Sunday is a solid way to start her campaign but it is hard to back her with confidence right now. 22-year-old Emma Navarro came into Strasbourg at a career-high WTA world ranking of 82nd and she will snap that after comfortably beating Tereza Martincova on Monday. The American won two ITF titles on clay last month but Teichmann remains the favourite in this first meeting, particularly with a win under her belt. Back the Swiss to earn at least a set and leave the victor up to chance or consider a one-off on this match to see three sets.
