Lucky loser Camila Osorio came back from a set down to oust Ana Bogdan on Monday to make the most of her second chance. The 21-year-old just lost out in qualifying to rising teenager Mirra Andreeva but her recent form on clay almost saw her make the main draw outright after a brilliant run to the round of 16 in Rome saw her climb back inside the top 100. World number 28 Elise Mertens beat Viktoria Hrunkacova in straight sets on Sunday but she will face a much tougher clay-courter here in Osorio, who set a career-high WTA world ranking of 33rd this time last season before falling away. 27-year-old Mertens has been one of the most consistent performers at Grand Slams over the last few seasons but the Belgian has been a little under par over the past 12 months by her lofty standards. Mertens beat Osorio from a set down at Wimbledon last summer when the Colombian was forced to retire and taking Osorio to earn at least a set here with the momentum of a second wind could be the shrewd way to avoid picking a winner.
