World number 43 Elisabetta Cocciaretto beat Camila Osorio in straight sets on Wednesday to get a good foothold in at Wimbledon. The 22-year-old also reached the second round on her debut here last summer and she set her best run at a Grand Slam last month with a run to the third round at Roland-Garros via an upset over 10th seed Petra Kvitova. 23-year-old Rebeka Masarova took out 31st seed Mayar Sherif in three very tight sets to make the second round here for the first time and the Spaniard brought some strong form on grass into SW19 after upsetting Bianca Andreescu at the Bad Homburg Open last week. A first meeting between the pair leaves more questions than answers but Masarova has impressed on grass so far this season to suggest taking her to earn at least a set is the sensible way to avoid siding with either player.
