THE PREDICTION
World number six Andrey Rublev made it eight wins on the spin with a straight-sets victory over Alex Molcan on Saturday. The 25-year-old is in confident form after finally winning his first Masters event at the Monte-Carlo Open last week, where he beat Taylor Fritz and Holger Rune from a set down in the final rounds. Form like that should be enough to back him to take this successive final in straight sets but world number 70 Dusan Lajovic is a serious threat here in his current streak. The 32-year-old beat Novak Djokovic for the first time in his career in the quarter-finals and he came back impressively to oust another in-form Serb in Miomir Kecmanovic on Saturday. Lajovic will be backed to the hilt as the underdog here and he was the winner of the only previous encounter between the two, on clay, at the Umag Open back in 2019. The suitably cautious move is taking Rublev to earn at least a set but the Russian should be able to find a way through in his current form.
