THE PREDICTION
20-year-old Dominic Stricker set a new career-high ATP world ranking of 106th this week after reaching the second round at Wimbledon via an excellent qualifying campaign and a huge five-set victory over Alexei Popyrin. The Swiss will be backed to the hilt at Gstaad as a potential rising star on tour and he can break the top 100 for the first time with victory here after an excellent opener over fellow young up-and-comer Arthur Fils on Tuesday. World number 44 Miomir Kecmanovic may struggle under the pressure here as he comes in a little cold on a bye to the round of 16 as the second seed. The 23-year-old has finished runner-up at two tournaments this season, to Taylor Fritz at Delray Beach and Casper Ruud in Estoril, but he brings a reasonably concerning 17-19 record into Gstaad with plenty of early exits this year. Kecmanovic is undoubtedly a talent on clay but home advantage and improving confidence at this level says backing Stricker to earn at least a set is the sensible way to avoid a result here.
