THE PREDICTION

This match looks a reasonable candidate for five sets between up-and-coming world number 117 Dominic Stricker and number 93 Alexei Popyrin. 23-year-old Popyrin upset Taylor Fritz in a five-set thriller at the Australian Open back in January, backing-up another five-setter in the first round, but the Aussie has struggled on grass so far this swing, winning just one match at the Libema Open. 20-year-old Stricker qualified well this week to make his Wimbledon debut and whether he wants it or not there will be some buzz about the Swiss as he aims to walk in the footsteps of Wimbledon record-holder Roger Federer. A first meeting between the two should see breaks hard to come by between Popyrin’s serious serve and Stricker’s work rate but back the Aussie to earn at least two sets as the likelier of two capable victors.
