THE PREDICTION

World number 32 Lesia Tsurenko is a tough draw for anybody on her day and it will be interesting to see how far the 34-year-old she can climb this season after enjoying renaissance form in recent years. A straight-sets victory over Sachia Vickery was a solid way to open her account at the Auckland Classic but world number 76 Diane Parry should offer more of a test after coming back from a set down to oust Emina Bektas. 21-year-old Parry has plenty of potential to improve, and sooner rather than later, but so far her best tennis has come on her favoured clay. A first meeting between the two is difficult to call with confidence but Tsurenko has enjoyed tournaments of this size, in similar conditions, in recent years. Back the Ukrainian to win outright, or at least a set inside an accumulator.

TIP: LESIA TSURENKO TO WIN
