World number 45 Lin Zhu has won nine matches in a row at the Hua Hin Championships and she will be backed strongly in this final as the defending champion. The 30-year-old is yet to drop a set this week after an impressive performance over Yafan Wang on Saturday but this will be her toughest test yet against an intriguing up-and-comer. 19-year-old Diana Shnaider is through to her second WTA tour final after an excellent result over third seed Xinyu Wang on Saturday, backing-up big results over Paula Badosa and top seed Magda Linette. The Russian finished runner-up to Ons Jabeur at the Ningbo Open back in September and she will be desperate to put up more of a fight this time around. Zhu’s experience on this court should count for the Chinese, as will the backing of an Asian crowd, but back the explosive Shnaider to earn at least a set off the back of an impressive week in Hua Hin.
