World number 10 Daria Kasatkina has conceded just seven games so far in two consummate victories over Caroline Dolehide and Jodie Burrage. The 26-year-olf finished runner-up to Madison Keys at the Eastbourne International last week to look dangerous coming into Wimbledon and she is at her best on the ‘natural’ surfaces of grass and clay as a player who prefers defence to offence. World number 20 Victoria Azarenka much prefers tennis on a hardcourt, on which she won her two Grand Slam titles at the Australian Open in 2012 and 2013, but she looked strong against Nadia Podoroska on Thursday to improve on a choppy opener against Yue Yuan on Monday. The former world number one leads Kasatkina 3-0 in their head-to-head but the pair have only met on clay so far, most recently at the Italian Open in 2020. Grass form suggests the Russian is the favourite to get a first win on the board here but the sensible concession is taking Kasatkina to earn at least a set from a potential thriller.
