World number 11 Daria Kasatkina survived a tough first fixture at the Palermo Ladies Open, overcoming former world number 18 Martina Trevisan in three sets. The 26-year-old is the top seed by some margin this week and the clear favourite to lift the title on Sunday, with second seed Qinwen Zheng her nearest threat. 19-year-old Tatiana Prozorova beat Nigina Abduraimova in straight sets on Tuesday to claim her first tour-level win and she will set a new career-high WTA world ranking of around 206th for her efforts. The Russian stands very little chance against her elder compatriot here but Kasatkina has suffered more odd upsets this season than she should have to throw some doubt about the match. Back Kasatkina to win in straight sets but an outright call might be wise for an accumulator.
