The seventh seed is desperately seeking anything like her best level on tour, with her run to the Adelaide International final last month heavily aided by two walkovers, but she has needed a high calibre of opponent to beat her so far this season. World number 82 Ashlyn Krueger qualified well this weekend before a three-set victory over Bernarda Pera on Monday and she impressed in her cameo at the Australian Open last month, where she took the first set from eventual runner-up Qinwen Zheng before defeat in their first round clash. The 19-year-old proved herself a big occasion player with a brilliant run to her maiden title at the Osaka Open last September and she stands a solid chance at the upset here.
