33-year-old Jan-Lennard Struff set a new career-high ATP world ranking of 21st back in June after an incredible run to a first Masters final in Madrid, where he stunned the field as a lucky loser before a tight three set defeat to Carlos Alcaraz. The German also finished runner-up at the Stuttgart Open on his favoured clay, with huge results over Hubert Hurkacz and Tommy Paul leading up to an even tighter three-set defeat to Frances Tiafoe, but he suffered an unfortunate injury at the Halle Open to miss the entirety of July and August.
