29-year-old Christopher O’Connell set a career-high ATP world ranking of 70th last month as he continues to enjoy his best campaign on tour. The Aussie has reached quarter-finals on all three surfaces this season; hardcourts in Doha, clay in Geneva and more recently grass in Stuttgart to show for overall improvement and he has been awarded a kind opener in Wimbledon as he aims to claim is first win at SW19. 19-year-ol Hamad Medjedovic qualified handily this week to make his Wimbledon debut and he took a set from Marcos Giron on his overall Grand Slam debut at Roland-Garros before defeat. O’Connell should be coming through this match comfortably enough but there is certainly scope for four or even five sets if Medjedovic capitalises on his qualifying momentum.
