THE PREDICTION
World number 43 Emil Ruusuvuori beat Giulio Zeppieri in straight sets on Tuesday after the long trip over from a solid campaign at the Rotterdam 500, where he upset Ugo Humbert and Jan-Lennard Struff before defeat to Tallon Griekspoor. The 24-year-old has all the tools to excel at the highest level on a hardcourt and he has enjoyed a strong start to 2024, repairing some damage from a wayward season last year. World number 65 Christopher O’Connell enjoyed the best season of his career last year, with several excellent performances including in defeat to Daniil Medvedev in the quarter-finals here. The 29-year-old has looked sharp so far this season, taking Ben Shelton to four sets before defeat in Melbourne last month, but in-form Ruusuvuori has the better results in recent weeks. O’Connell beat the Finn in straight sets this time last season in Dubai but back Ruusuvuori to return the favour this time around.
TIP: EMIL RUUSVUVUORI TO WIN
