CHLOE PAQUET VS MARKETA VONDROUSOVA PREDICTION
World number six Marketa Vondrousova came back from a 0-6 set down to beat Katie Volynets over two rain-soaked days, backing-up a more assured opener over Rebeka Masarova. The 24-year-old should be better for an early scare at Roland-Garros, where she finished runner-up to Ash Barty as a teenager in 2019, but recent exits to the likes of Marta Kostyuk, Mirra Andreeva and Anhelina Kalinina should be below her lofty standards at her best on this surface.
This is no gimme against French hopeful Chloe Paquet after the 29-year-old fought back admirably to beat in-form Katerina Siniakova on Thursday, backed by a big partisan following who will be out in force on Simonne-Mathieu today. At anything like her disruptive best this would be a coasting for Vondrousova but the suitably cautious concession is backing the Czech to win outright.
