22-year-old Anastasia Potapova came into the Berlin Open at a career-high WTA world ranking of 21st and she could break the top 20 this week with a strong run. The Russian came back from a set down to edge past Marta Kostyuk in a fierce opener on Tuesday but she should fare better in this first meeting with Caty McNally, who enjoyed an altogether more comfortable opener against Lauren Davis. World number 64 McNally has enjoyed her best season yet on tour too but the American is a league away from Potapova at this moment in time, with the Russian enjoying three top 10 wins this year including two over McNally’s former doubles partner Coco Gauff. Back Potapova to win outright here but two should probably do it.
