This could be a proper thriller on Friday evening in a first meeting between world number four Casper Ruud and 19-year-old rising star Arthur Fils. France’s Fils will set a new career-high ATP world ranking of 54th after ousting a strong clay-courter in Dusan Lajovic on Thursday, reaching the quarter-finals without dropping a set, and he already looks very much a player for the big occasions. 24-year-old Ruud owns 10 ATP titles at 250 level but a win in Hamburg this week would be his most prestigious title yet despite his three runners-up places at Grand Slams over the last two years.
