22-year-old Clara Burel set a career-high WTA world ranking of 61st after finishing runner-up to Elisabetta Cocciaretto at the Ladies Open Lausanne on her favoured clay but she suffered an early exit in her first match back in Cleveland last week. The Frenchwoman took Xiyu Wang to three sets, though, after beating eventual champion Sara Sorribes Tormo in qualifying to suggest she is the slight favourite on form here but Caroline Dolehide will enjoy the partisan atmosphere on home soil. The 24-year-old has enjoyed plenty of success on the ITF circuit this season, particularly in the US to suggest she has a significant home advantage here, but this first meeting between the two is one of the harder calls of the day.
