THE PREDICTION
This should be a thrilling rematch between world number one Carlos Alcaraz and number 18 Lorenzo Musetti, who stunned Alcaraz in three sets almost exactly a year ago to win the Hamburg 500. 21-year-old Musetti should set a new career-high ATP world ranking of around 17ths after reaching the round of 16 at Roland-Garros for a second time and he looks to be in even better shape than his first run here in 2021, where he took the firs two sets from eventual champion Novak Djokovic before defeat. The Italian is yet to drop a set this fortnight and his performance against a listless Cam Norrie on Friday suggests he can cause some real problems for Alcaraz here as one of the more complete clay-courters on tour. 20-year-old Alcaraz produced a similarly one-sided win over Denis Shapovalov on Friday but he has dropped a set this campaign in an ultimately comfortable second round clash with Taro Daniel.
Expect sets to go both ways here as Musetti is a very tough player to knock down when his confidence is high. Back Alcaraz to win outright or consider taking Musetti to earn at least a set in this must-watch clash.
