World number two Carlos Alcaraz scraped through his first round clash with Arthur Rinderknech on Tuesday to look way off it on grass but he produced an altogether more impressive display on Thursday, conceding just three games to Jiri Lehecka. The 20-year-old reached the round of 16 at Wimbledon last summer before coming unstuck in a thriller with Jannik Sinner and there is still plenty of work to do on the surface before he can be considered a serious contender at SW19. World number 26 Grigor Dimitrov impressed in a straight-sets victory over Francisco Cerundolo on Thursday and it looks like having to qualify this weekend has given the Bulgarian a rare bout of momentum. The former world number three has lost both previous matches with Alcaraz in straight sets, including at last month’s Madrid Masters, but his vast experience in these conditions promise to make this third encounter a proper spectacle. Leave this match out of an accumulator with so many factors to consider but back Alcaraz to earn at least a set with the mental edge over his opponent.
