This should be a well-contested first encounter between two South American players in Brazil’s Beatriz Haddad-Maia and Colombia’s Camila Osorio. World number 15 Haddad-Maia is yet to drop a set this fortnight after a solid win over 17th seed Magda Linette on Saturday, continuing her strong form from winning the Madrid Open Women’s Doubles last weekend alongside Victoria Azarenka. World number 100 Osorio set a career-high WTA world ranking of 33rd last year after bursting onto the scene in 2021 and she is playing like it once again after a lull. The 21-year-old grabbed the best ranking win of her career on Saturday with a straight-sets result over fifth seed Caroline Garcia but she will find an opponent in a more resilient place here. Osorio has played well enough this week in conditions that totally suit her game to warrant big caution here, so take Haddad-Maia to earn at least a set and leave the victor up to chance.
