World number 13 Cam Norrie needed four sets to oust an impressive Tomas Machac on Tuesday but the Brit should benefit from an extra day’s practice as one of only a handful of players whose campaigns have been positively affected by the washed out Tuesday. The 27-year-old reached the semi-finals here last summer and took the first set from eventual champion Novak Djokovic before defeat but the Brit has failed to win three matches on the spin in each of his last eight tournaments and this is a tricky second round clash with in-form Christopher Eubanks. 27-year-old Eubanks claimed his maiden ATP title at the Mallorca Championships last week and he made it six wins on the spin on grass on Wednesday, coming back from a set down to beat Thiago Monteiro to survive that always-difficult quick turnaround from trophy to first round. The American blasted 28 aces past Monteiro to look a considerable threat here but Norrie’s disruptive, lefty angles should cause the very tall Eubanks plenty of problems on the returns he makes. Back Norrie to win outright here but four or even five sets feel possible.
