THE PREDICTION
World number 27 Alexander Bublik returned to the Montpellier Open final two years on from winning his maiden title here, with an excellent comeback over Felix Auger-Aliassime on Saturday. The 26-year-old has fought back from a set down in each of his three matches this week to look resolute, if a little fallible, as he continues to mature into a very serious threat to the top 20 and beyond. 27-year-old Borna Coric is aiming to return to those heights after his latest injury lay-off, although he was on the right side of one yesterday when Holger Rune was forced to retire during their second set. The Croat is yet to drop a set this week but the calibre of foes faced compared to Bublik is quite significant, as is the Kazakh’s previous experience on this court. Bublik beat Coric in straight sets en-route to the Halle Open title last summer and he can be backed to eventually edge through this rematch.
