THE PREDICTION

Former world number four Bianca Andreescu backed-up an excellent comeback over Victoria Azarenka with an encouragingly solid straight-sets victory over Emma Navarro on Thursday. The 22-year-old had not won a match on clay since the first round here last summer but whilst it is her weakest surface, on paper, her returning confidence on court looks to be holding up so far. This is a really tricky tie with world number 66 Lesia Tsurenko, who stunned 2021 Roland-Garros champion Barbora Krejcikova in the first round before a more comfortable win over Lauren Davis in the second. The 33-year-old set a career-high WTA world ranking of 23rd back in 2019 and she is well capable of that level of tennis still after impressing over the past 12 months. Tsurenko leads Andreescu 2-0 in their head-to-head after a result at the Hua Hin Championships in February but both wins came via retirements by Andreescu through injury. Leave this match out of an accumulator but otherwise back Tsurenko to earn at least a set to leave the victor up to chance.
