THE PREDICTION
World number 56 Bernarda Pera is the defending champion here in Hamburg and playing like it so far. The 28-year-old beat Kaia Kanepi in straight sets on Tuesday to back-up a choppy opener over Zeyneb Somnez but she faces an intriguing challenge here in Diana Shnaider, who upset her first title defence at the Hungarian Grand Prix last week. 19-year-old Shnaider also dropped a set in her opener over fellow youngster Polina Kudermetova on Monday but she looked more assured against Julia Grabher on Tuesday. The Russian is a serious up-and-comer on tour with bags of potential but Pera should be better in their quick rematch after a cold start last week in Budapest. Take the American to earn at least a set to leave the victor up to chance.
