Former world number 16 Barbora Strycova recently came back from retirement in late April in the hope to return to the scene of her most successful Grand Slam run. The 37-year-old produced a remarkable run to the semi-finals here in 2019 before defeat to runner-up Serena Williams and she went on to win the Women’s Doubles title alongside Su-Wei Hsieh – with whom she will play again this fortnight. In an odd twist of fate, the only player Strycova has beaten in singles tennis since her return was world number 92 Maryna Zanevska, ousting the Belgian in three sets at the Italian Open. 29-year-old Zanevska takes a five-match losing streak, including that loss to Strycova, into her third appearance at SW19 and she is yet to win a match here. It is still worth leaving this tricky match out of an accumulator but back Strycova to enjoy her return with an outright win.
