THE PREDICTION

World number 12 Barbora Krejcikova received a bye to the round of 16 at the Abu Dhabi Open as the fourth seed this week. The former number two will be eager to build on some promising form that took her to the quarter-finals of the Australian Open last month but her straight-sets defeat to eventual champion Aryna Sabalenka displayed a gulf between her current level and where she hopes to return to. World number 54 Sara Sorribes Tormo came through qualifying as a lucky loser after falling to Bernarda Pera on Sunday but she utilised that second-wind well on Tuesday with a three-set victory over Linda Noskova. The 27-year-old won her second WTA title at the Cleveland Championships last autumn but she has struggled to push back inside the top 40 since her lengthy injury absence in 2022. Expect lengthy rallies between two players who prefer to make their opponents hit one extra shot but back Krejcikova to come through in her current form.

TIP: BARBORA KREJCIKOVA TO WIN
