The 27-year-old has struggled for the best part of 12 months on tour but he looks capable on grass and he has the momentum of a second chance on his side after coming through qualifying as a lucky loser to beat Albert Ramos-Vinolas on Tuesday. World number 73 Constant Lestienne snapped a woeful 10-match losing streak on Tuesday with an impressive three-set victory over Jason Kubler that could see him spring back into action on tour. The 31-year-old’s languid but tricky playstyle could frustrate Rinderknech here but both players’ confidences must be pretty vulnerable right now after poor seasons.
