World number 19 Alexander Zverev has a serious chance at winning a first ATP title since last spring as the only remaining seed left at the Hamburg Open. The 26-year-old was in the form of his life early last season before suffering a serious ankle injury in the semi-finals of Roland-Garros, looking the better player against eventual champion Rafael Nadal, ended his season early. The German is yet to drop a set this week and he can count on a near-partisan atmosphere here on Saturday as the last home player left in Hamburg, but 19-year-old Arthur Fils will have his fans too as an entertaining rising star. The Frenchman will set a new career-high ATP world ranking inside the top 50 for the first time after stunning top seed Casper Ruud in straight sets on Friday for the biggest win of his young career so far and he has nothing to lose in this huge occasion. Neither player has dropped a set this week but despite Fils’ form this match has to be on Zverev’s racket, with a top performance from the German likely to be too much to handle. The sensible call is taking Zverev to earn at least a set as the likelier of two capable victors but the fourth seed should realistically be coming through here.
