This will be a fascinating first encounter between former number six Felix Auger-Aliassime and in-form Arthur Cazaux, who set a new career-high ATP world ranking of 83rd this week after his fabulous run to the round of 16 at the Australian Open. 21-year-old Cazaux stunned eighth seed Holger Rune in four sets before an excellent straight-sets upset over Tallon Griekspoor took him to the second week of a major for the first time last week, where he played admirably in defeat to Hubert Hurkacz. The Montpellier native will be backed to the hilt and then some on Thursday as he takes on an out-of-sorts Auger-Aliassime desperately seeking a return to his former powers. The Canadian, currently ranked 30th in the world, endured a horrendous season last year that he only just managed to save from complete failure by defending his Basel Indoors title late on.
