34-year-old Arina Rodionova came back from a set down ton oust Zhuoxuan Bai on Thursday, cementing her move inside the top 100 on tour for the first time, but she faces a much tougher test next in defending champion Lin Zhu. World number 45 Zhu suffered a hock early exit at the Australian Open two weeks ago, 12 months on from her career-best run to the round of 16 in Melbourne, but she looks to have responded admirably with two straight-set wins so far in Hua Hin. Rodionova has battled through two three-setters to reach a rare quarter-final at this level but Zhu will enjoy the backing of the crowd as the defending champion and Asian player in this last event of the swing. Back Lin Zhu to win outright, although straight sets should probably do it this time.
